Our tour starts with a visit to Mumbai's oldest and most iconic bar, where guests sip on iconic cocktails that have been on the menu since the 1930's. We then move to 'permit rooms' that have reached cult status among locals, where conversations move to the prohibition eras. From there, we upscale this experience by doing a cocktail making workshop at an urban gastropub. The time now to sample some of Mumbai's beloved 'chakna’.
At Leopold Cafe, hit during the 2008 terrorist attack of Mumbai, and while playing some fun drinking games we recall its connect with Shantaram and uncover the history of this iconic bar that has been on Mumbai shores since 1871. Our last stop is a quintessential Maharashtra dance bar. Hear the stories of these old haunts, once money-spinners and inspirations for many a Bollywood film, but now struggling to survive today
The tour begins outside Regal Cinema at 1815 hrs; Chits will be distributed to the guests at the start the tour and can be redeemed for one pre-decided drink/meal at each restaurant. Any additional order must be paid for by the guests themselves; proper decorum is expected for the entire course of the tour; dance performances at dance bars are organized at the discretion of the bar management.
