This bicycle odyssey explores the beautiful hinterland of Kerala. The essence of the program is to understand how a typical Keralan Village is structured. The 25km ride takes you through the iconic Kerala landscape to reach the quaint fishing village which is your destination. The tour will introduce you to a window of Kerala's fishing community; you will learn all about the fishing economy, and insight into the life and livelihood of the local fishermen.
Most of our bicycles are Trek 3700 V mountain bikes and Scott Subcross 40 D touring bikes; these bikes are unisex models and will have a center crossbar on the frame. Hence ladies are requested to wear shorts/trousers for riding convenience. In case you require a lady's bike, we can offer the basic B-Twin 7 speed lady's bicycles in medium and small sizes.
Clients may want to spend more time while on our tours, which we would appreciate, but please do anticipate the same and make sure you leave enough time for that and clients do not have to rush back to join some other program scheduled by you.
Since the program is a reflection of life as it is in a village, the Expedition Manager may modify the program on certain days, keeping the best interest of the guests and the sentiments of the locals in mind.
The 25km ride takes you through the iconic Kerala landscape to reach the quaint village which is your destination. By now you must be hungry for the home-cooked Kerala breakfast that awaits you with a local family. In fact, meals are an excellent excuse to enjoy close interactions with the people you are sharing them with and this is no exception. There is much you will learn about life in a rural home in Kerala.
Not only will you have some interesting conversations with the family here, but you will also get a chance to learn to fish the Kerala way. The family will be happy to receive your catch. In fact, they will clean and cook it as well. While the family is cleaning up the fish, we head out to the local fishing harbour where our expedition manager will introduce you to the nitty-gritty of the fishing economy, and insight into the life and livelihood of the local fishermen. There is every chance of getting to attend a lively fish auction as well, on most days. On heading back to the family home, you will be treated to a cooking demo. Your appetite is probably up and running again, so the lunch that has been prepared will surely be very welcome. Satiated from a delicious meal, you say goodbye and thank the family before heading back to your hotel.
