On this Colonial Heritage Walk you get to savour the high points of the colonial days of Darjeeling. This gorgeous hill station in the Eastern Himalayas served as the summer capital of the British, when they ruled India from their first capital, which was Calcutta. Discovered by chance, this beautiful spot in the mountains reminded them of England. It did not take the English too long to transform this cool Himalayan spot into a charming hill town. Sometime later, it became their fully functional seat of Government and commerce in the summer.
