We have known that prehistoric humans thrived in this region long. The earliest residents here were nomadic cattle herders, who would seek shelter in the natural caves of the area during monsoons. Many of these megalithic and neolithic sites (1500 BC to 800 BC) have disappeared in the last 100 years due to lack of conservation efforts and plundering of natural resources. Some of the sites survive because they out of reach and are hidden deep or high in the boulder hills. On this tour, we set out on an adventure to visit some of the accessible prehistoric sites around Hampi, along the way we will build a narrative of how the life of early humans was in those times.

They have a photographic memory of the landscape because they traverse through all areas looking for best grazing land for the sheep. It is also our effort at making them important stakeholders in the conservation of such sites. Through our activities, they understand the importance of preserving such sites for education and gainfully benefit from such activity. We will ride mopeds to get around on this tour.
