After breakfast, visit Dambulla Rock Cave by private vehicle. Treasured by many kings since the 1st century B.C., the golden Dambulla Rock Temple houses some of the most unique drawings in five magnificent cave temples. Observe exquisite cave paintings along walls that shelter 150 statues of Lord Buddha. The highlight is the gigantic Buddha statue glittering in gold. There is a short but fairly steep incline with steps, but anybody in reasonably good condition can manage easily.

Proceed to Minneriya National Park for a game drive. Check-in at the hotel and rest before an afternoon jeep safari at the Minneriya National Park. Large wild herds of elephants congregate on the edge of rivers and reservoirs to bathe and socialize in one of the best parks in Sri Lanka. The park covers 8,890 hectares and has a mixed forest of evergreen shrubs. It is a favourite habitat for leopards, deer and wild elephants. Keep an eye out for monkeys, including the purple-faced langur and macaques. Later, return to the hotel for an evening of leisure.

After breakfast, drive to the ancient city of Sigiriya, built on a sheer rock deep in a lush forest. This remarkable 5th-century archaeological site is unforgettable for its dramatic setting. A moat, rampart, and extensive gardens with water bodies ring the rock's base. The highlight is the delicate frescoes of 'Heavenly Maidens'. Learn about the ancient prince who killed his father to claim the throne and had to flee to this pleasure palace-cum fortress. Reaching the top of Sigiriya Rock requires a climb of 1,200 stone steps up and then down. Anybody in reasonably good condition can venture to the top of Sigiriya Rock, and it's certainly worth the effort.

Continue to Polonnaruwa ruins. The second capital of Sri Lanka, built in the 11th and 12th centuries A.D., is a UNESCO World Heritage site. See the ruins of the Royal Palace and the Gal Viharaya (three splendid statues of the Buddha in upright, sedentary and recumbent postures carved out of rock. Other highlights include the audience hall, lotus bath, Polonnaruwa statue and the Parakrama Samudra tank built by King Parakramabahu the Great. A scatter of temple ruins consists of the Shiva temple, the Lankatileka, the Watadage, the Galpotha, the Kiri Vihare Dagoba and the remains of a former Temple of the Tooth. Transfer back to the hotel for a restful evening.

After breakfast, drive towards the Royal City of Kandy. Proceed on a scenic train ride to the tea hills. Rest of the day at leisure.

Dubbed the 'the tea capital of the country', Hatton is a famous tea plantation town set in the Nuwara Eliya district in the Central Highlands of this beautiful Island. The landscape is blanketed in neat rows of dense green tea bushes covering rolling hills. Visitors can look forward to soaking up the stunning views of the lush mountains, viewing magnificent cascading waterfalls and spotting a variety of colourful birdlife. Don't miss the opportunity to climb to the top of the breathtakingly beautiful Adam's Peak, visit the Mackwoods Labookellie Tea Factory, and view the incredible architecture of Warleigh Church. The scenic Horton Plains is a must-see highlight in the UNESCO-listed World Heritage area.

After breakfast at the hotel, drive towards Yala, visiting Udawalawe National Park en route for a jeep safari. Udawalawe National Park was created to provide a sanctuary for wild animals displaced by the construction of the Udawalawe Reservoir on the Walawe River and to protect the reservoir's catchment. The reserve covers 30,821 hectares of land and was established on 30 June 1972. Before the designation of the national park, the area was used for shifting cultivation (chena farming). Continue to Yala and check in to the hotel. Rest of the day at leisure.

Yala is a picturesque region located in the southeast corner of the island nation. This beautiful area boasts stunning landscapes, majestic wildlife, and extraordinary cultural attractions. One of the must-visit destinations in Yala is Buduruwagala, a fascinating complex of ancient Buddhist rock carvings that date back to the 8th century. The impressive sculptures include a towering 51-foot-high image of the Buddha. Yala National Park has a leopard density that's reportedly higher than anywhere else on this planet and a varied landscape from dense forests to moist wetlands. Kebiliththa in Block 4 of the Yala National Park is considered highly sacred by Buddhists and Hindus, who flock here to meditate.

Before breakfast or with a packed breakfast, proceed to Yala National Park for a jeep safari. Yala National Park is the most visited and second-largest national park in Sri Lanka, covering 979 square kilometres. Designated as a wildlife sanctuary in 1900 and a National Park in 1938, it is known for conserving Sri Lankan Elephants and aquatic birds.

Look forward to viewing a variety of wild animals, ranging from leopards to elephants and peacocks. Return to the hotel for the rest of the day at leisure.

After a leisurely breakfast, drive towards Weligama and check in to the hotel. Head to Mirissa, a breathtaking sandy crescent-shaped beach close to the island's southern tip, just 200 kilometres from the Equator. If time permits, watch the famous stilt fishermen and the busy fishmongers as they do what they do best. Spend the rest of the day at leisure.
